So last week on :Mandela_Day as I was driving to work I was listening to various people on the radio talk about their experiences with Mandela, his works and what he stood for, and just how he either directly or indirectly impacted their lives.
So I thought, to commemorate his life I'll share with you how he has impacted mine other than with the obvious i.e. democracy (please don't get me wrong, I'm not at all crediting democracy only to him).
It all rides on this quote:

When I first read this quote, I thought to myself, as great as Madiba was, did he also go through moments of self doubt? Because I thought to myself, wisdom like this comes from personal experiences.
Well, from reading this quote I was liberated from my fears, I was encouraged to live my best life, my purpose, my confidence went up a notch and I knew that I had work to do. I had to help someone else out there see that it's possible. That it's possible for a girl from a dusty village to start her own successful business, to make it in the male dominated professional world, to be a wife, mother and a professional all at once, to travel the world, to write, the list is endless..
In summary, I got liberated form the fears that held me back, the self doubt questions (who am I to deserve this). It's not a once off thing though, you have to keep on fighting the fear off. You have to always revive the fire inside of you, the go-getter spirit inside you.
Nelson Mandela let his light shine, and the results and the legacy left from that are massive. SO let yours shine too.
